This is my Bernese family.
Initially I wanted a pet to replace my Rottweiler, and as I couldn't replace my one in a million Rottweiler my wife & I got into the Bernese Breed with the help of Marian Scott & Shelagh Corrigan ( Northern Bernese). Maximus was only ever intended to be a pet, but little did we know that 5 years later we would have a family of 4 Bernese that vary from being just pets to "Show dogs" with successes at Championship shows, earning "Kennel Club Stud book numbers" as well as successes at Crufts.
Our Bernese family also take part in many other canine & Bernese activities. One is a registered therapy dog with Pets As Therapy and he also enjoys Agility and is an experienced Carting Dog taking part in Swiss theme parades, Fancy dress as well as competing on course work that sees him enter the intermediate stages in 2024.
Our youngest Bernese was at Crufts 2024 ( all 4 had qualified, but we only took one) .
It is safe to say that owning a Bernese ( or a few) is extremely rewarding as they are such loving and adorable characters. They need exercise just like any dog ( but not as much as you would think) and being a working breed they love to please and be involved in human life.
